Phuket has always held a special place in my heart. On my first visit to this island over 10 years ago I felt incredibly at home with her waters, beaches and landscapes, and such was the alignment at the time - I even ended up meeting my future husband. Eager to return, over a decade later as a wedded couple, I wanted our visit to be effortless luxury with the right balance of being secluded yet active. As soon as I read about COMO Point Yamu, I knew this was the perfect space for us to both celebrate and unwind.

LOCATION
Located on Phuket’s peaceful east coast, COMO Point Yamu is a resort located at the tip of Cape Yamu overlooking the Andaman Sea. A quick 35-minute drive from the airport, and you are immersed in the contemporary expression of Thai luxury and picturesque views of the Sun setting into Phang Nga Bay. VIEW MAP.
STYLE & DESIGN
This stylish hangout was designed by Italian Paola Navone, and boasts the minimalist vibe of ‘ocean cool’, and maintains an influence of traditional luxury. Upon entering, the giant lobby feel likes an airy dome, decorated with art pieces and strung with marigolds. The blues, aquamarines and greens are strategically coordinated around the hotel and rooms alongside Thai furnishings. Bright lawns and incredible sea views beside a 100-meter swimming pool is only where this resort begins.
ROOMS
We checked into the Bay Suite, which aside from it’s grandeur size is sleeky designed with stylish interiors, spa-class bathrooms, and large verandah with opens onto a breathtaking symphony of blue Phang Nga Bay waters. The modest contemporary white appeal balanced against traditional elements and array of textures and patterns, creates the inviting lounge-worthy experience.
We spent many warm afternoons in the bright living room, drinking tea and soaking in the care-free colours of ocean tides and the gently breeze. COMO truly invites you to rest into optimum holiday spirit with not a care in sight. The bathroom is defined by its extraordinary size and the largest jacuzzi-style bathtub I have ever seen and calls to be used pampering and relaxation.
In the bedroom, crisp white linen and cloud-like pillows provide deep sleep, and their big free movie selection encourages cozy unwinding nights. Overall, the property boasts 79 rooms and suites (upgraded suites have their own private pools) and 27 private villas.

FOOD & DRINK
The food at COMO was an incredible surprising experience with a superb array of breakfast items, including fresh coconuts and wheatgrass shots served at La Sirena restaurant beside the infinity pool. The utmost thought has been put into the curated Como Shambala Spa Menu of nutritious inspired options which offers something for every palette and sets the tone of a healthy nourished morning. The food presentation makes each dish incredibly insta-worthy, whilst easily being some of the most memorable and delicious guilt-free breakfasts mornings I had ever indulged in.
Throughout the rest of the day, La Sirena offers fresh summery Italian dishes – best enjoyed beside the pool! In the evening, head over to Nahmyaa for authentic southern Thai “street” food, served in an indoor contemporary setting.

SERVICE & FACILITIES
One of the most appealing factors about COMO Point Yamu is the list of daily complimentary activities that are offered. From hatha yoga, thai kickboxing, flower garland makings classes and more, all of which are set-up in their own spaces and lead by professional facilitators who are devoted to make the experience as enjoyable as possible for each guest. Snorkelling and a Thai-cooking classes are also available for an additional fee. (A huge highlight was the thai-kick boxing class out on the lawn!)
The 100-metre long iconic infinity swimming pool is truly the masterpiece of the entire resort, and quite possibly in all of Phuket! White lounge chairs are perched to lie-back and enjoy the stunning 360-degree views of the coast and endless crystalline waters that surround the resort. Hours go by swimming, lounging, and simply being undisturbed, other than the occasional need to order another delicious fresh coconuts or health elixirs while you settle in enjoy the spectacular sunsets.
TIP: Don't miss the fresh home-made ice-pops every afternoon
MUST-EXPERIENCE: Thai Kickboxing Class
COMO SHAMBHALA RETREAT
The COMO Shambala Spa is truly one of the best holistic spa experiences in Phuket. The Spa is the perfect balance of calming signature blue accents, serene treatment rooms and a secluded relaxation terrace that over-looks the infinity pool (the best place to get lost in a novel!). The therapists are outstanding and there is no shortage of treatment options for both men and woman to choose from.
COMO BEACH CLUB
While there is no beach connected to the hotel, the resort has more than compensated with a short car drive and scenic speedboat transit to their own fully-equipped COMO Beach Club. Set on a private stretch of sand on a remote island called Naka Yai, a visit here makes for a pleasant day outing and shift in ambience. Kayaking, paddle-boarding and other water-sport activities are available along with a restaurant café serving simple dishes, day-beds and a salt-water beachfront pool with showers and bathrooms.
TIP: Experience one of their “salas” – traditional cabana huts with lounge beds, a shower and bathroom – for extra privacy.
